Getting started
We keep it simple and supportive. Here's what to expect when you join the team.

15 or over
Under-18s just need a parent or guardian's consent. Parents are welcome to join in too.

A PVG check
Required for everyone working with young people, we'll walk you through the process.

Training & an induction
Courses through Youth 1st at your own pace, plus a short induction to meet the team, no prior experience needed.
Frequently asked questions
Absolutely. Full-time, part-time or casual hours all work, we have morning, afternoon and full-day sessions throughout the week.
Yes, our groups run year-round, including the summer holidays.
You need to be 15 or over. Under-18s will need a parent or guardian’s consent. Parents are very welcome to volunteer too.
Yes, a PVG check is required for everyone working with our young people, including parents, under current legislation. We’ll guide you through it.
No pre-courses needed before you start. We offer training through Youth 1st that you sign up for at your own pace, plus a short induction so you can meet the team.
